The line where earth, buildings, or water meet the sky- the horizon

When I was younger, I thought home was a house. As I grew I started thinking that a house can be just walls and it's the love inside that makes it a home. But I was surrounded by love and part of me still felt like there was more. Something was missing.

In the spring of 2024 I went on a 3.5 week road trip with a good friend. I was searching for that place- the one we would pull into and I would feel it. This is my forever home. I kept waiting, thinking it will be the next place, it has to be. The entire trip I felt at peace. There were long days and longer drives but the journey felt so right. My soul wasn't just satisfied, it was happy. On our way back to our hometown it hit me-

Maybe home isn't one place. Maybe it's not where you were raised or where you decide to settle. Maybe, for some people, home is the in-between. The sand beneath your feet one day and walking through mountain rain the next. It's long roads, city lights, skies full of stars, the bluest lakes you can dip your toes in, and gentle ocean waves playing in a salty breeze. It's dancing with strangers, crashing on the couch at an old friends, and running on the beach at midnight.

It's reaching the skyline you set your sights on while being mesmerized by the next horizon.
